The list price of Rexulti is $1,419 per month. However, people can pay much less through a prescription drug plan (PDP), also known as Medicare Part D. According to the manufacturers of the drug, the average out-of-pocket costs for Rexulti prescriptions through Medicare are roughly $21.37 per month.
However, many factors can affect the cost. This may include the time of year, which phase of Medicare Part D a person is in, and whether a person is enrolled in a Medicare Prescription Payment Plan (MPPP). Additionally, costs could also be lower if a person is eligible for the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) Extra Help program.
The cost of drugs a PDP covers may change throughout the year. This may be due to the different phases of Part D coverage. In 2025, these include:
- Deductible period: Until a person meets their Part D deductible, they will pay full price. After meeting the deductible, the plan will begin to cover the cost of the drugs.
- Initial coverage period: In this phase, a person will pay some of the cost, as well as a copayment or coinsurance.
- Catastrophic coverage: In 2025, Medicare plans will include a $2,000 cap on out-of-pocket costs for prescription drugs a plan covers. If a person’s spending reaches $2,000, they will automatically receive catastrophic coverage. This means they will not need to pay out-of-pocket for drugs their plan covers for the rest of the calendar year.
The MPPP is a new payment option in the prescription drug law. This plan works with an individual’s current drug coverage to help them manage out-of-pocket costs. It does this by spreading the costs across the calendar year.
There is no cost to participate in an MPPP, and it is voluntary. It will involve paying the plan premium each month, if applicable, and receiving a bill each month to pay for the prescription drugs.
Medicare Extra Help is an assistance program that can help those with a limited income pay for Medicare prescription drugs. It is not a Medicare policy. Instead, the Social Security Administration (SSA) oversees the program as a form of government assistance.
